This portrait of Big Brown was accepted to the 2010 International Exhibition on Animals in Art. Only 75 pieces were accepted to this exhibiton from 477 entries.

Big Brown was the dominant race horse during the 2008 racing season winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes classics. He compiled a race record of seven wins from eight starts, which in addition to the classics, includes the Florida Derby, the Haskell Invitational Stakes and the Monmouth Stakes. During his racing career he amassed earnings of $3.6 million, the respect of the racing community and hearts of the general population.

He entered stud duty in the fall of 2008 after injuring himself while preparing for the Breeder’s Cup. The injury, though not severe, prevented him from racing in the only event of significance remaining for the 2008 racing season.

The artist acknowledges the cooperation and assistance of Three Chimneys Farm, where Big Brown now stands at stud. Without their cooperation and assistance this artwork would not be possible and to whom the artist extends his gratitude and appreciation.
