A. P. Indy has been one of the most prolific contemporary stallions. His dominance begins with his exceptional breeding having a triple crown winner on both the top and bottom of his genetic tree; his sire being Seattle Slew and his dam a daughter of Secretariat. As a race horse he won eight and was third once in his eleven races. His wins includd the Belmont Stakes and the Breeders Cup Classic earning $2,978,815. He is an Eclipse Award winner as Champion Three Year Old Colt and Horse of the Year (1992) and was inducted into the Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2000. As a sire his progeny include a phenominal 137 stakes winners (through May 2011) including such greats as Rags to Riches (the filly who won the Belmont Stakes) and other classic winners two of which have also received Horse of the Year honors. Although pensioned in 2011, he is also proving to be a sire of sires whose legacy in horse racing will continue for many generations to come.
