Pinehurst, North Carolina. History, legend and tradition converge when the U.S. Open Championship returned for a second time to Pinehurst No.2 in 2005. The first Open hosted by Pinehurst No.2 in 1999 was a championship many recall as one of the most memorable; few people will ever forget Payne Stewart's 15 foot putt on the 18th hole of the final round to win the Open. Linda Hartough paints an early morning panoramic view from behind the 16th green looking down the fairway and over to the 17th green
