Barry Sheene was probably the original people's champion, reknowned for his ability to spend time with anyone who wanted to talk to him and despite appalling injuries suffered in various accidents, just keen to get back in the saddle and ride some more. The loss of this charismatic figure is still felt today, especially in Australia where he chose to live with wife Stephie and two sons.

Our picture is a tribute to this man who was a legend even before his untimely death. It shows him riding a lap of honour, minus helmet and hair flying, at Spa in Belgium where he set a course record that still stands today. His bike on this day was a Suzuki.
